  I really like using my imagination even when I'm supposed to suspend my disbelief. After my blog post about the character of Mentor, from the old SHAZAM! TV show, possibly being the wizard Shazam there was some push back from one of the stars of the original TV show! His red-suited portrayal of The Big Red Cheese is one for the ages. I mean how could you not love that friendly grin?!?  Even with the heavy hand of Pennsylvania and Alabama's favorite son on the scale, I just can't believe that the Mentor character is simply an average guy. DC Direct Deluxe Action Figures - SHAZAM! - Deluxe Action Figure Set (2000)

DC Direct, a subsidiary of DC Comics, started releasing action figures of DC characters and super heroes in 1998. It wasn't until 2000, that the first DC action figure of Captain Marvel was released along with his alter ego, Billy Batson. Packaged in a large, four-color window box and containing multiple accessories including a diorama stand complete with a thunderous sound effect, this was a set worth waiting for. Both the sculping of Captain Marvel and Billy Batson were based on their very first adventures in Whiz Comics and the Captain Marvel figure seemed to be sculped directly from the splash panel in Whiz Comics #2 ! WHIZ COMICS #2 - Splash Panel While the sculptor sculped a larger face, flipped the cape (presumably so that Captain Marvel's left arm could move freely), designed a larger lighting bolt, and added the sash, he/she kept the tipped head and the orientation of the boots as well as the button flap. THE POWER OF SHAZAM! Book 2 Hardcover Back on The Schedule! Happy Holidays 2021!

Holy Moley, live bait is back in season as the Book 2 hardcover of The Power of Shazam! is back on the schedule! After the first volume of The Power of Shazam! rolled out packaging up Jerry Ordway's beautifully painted graphic novel from 1992, the first twelve issues of The Power of Shazam! comic book series and the Ordway/Mike Parobeck story from Superman/Batman Magazine, expectations were high that the second volume would be released soon after! In fact, the second volume's cover was released on various websites with solicitation text and a release date of April 20, 2021. For reasons unknown, it wasn't officially solicited by DC Comics and went into publishing limbo. However, it has resurfaced on Amazon  and other sites with a December 28, 2021 release date although it has not yet been solicited by DC Comics at this time.
